ignited political fire with the Ram Temple.
The festival of lights was celebrated with great pomp in
Ayodhya. The Ayodhya Deepotsav program is organized to commemorate Lord Rama's
return to Ayodhya after 14 years of exile. Held annually on the occasion of
Diwali, this grand and divine event has become famous worldwide. The Uttar
Pradesh government participated enthusiastically in this festival.
In fact, if the government had not been a part of this festival, the Ayodhya Deepotsav would have been a dull affair. The glowing light of 26,17,215 lamps on the evening of Deepotsav in the "Rammay" Shri Ayodhya Dham created a world record, igniting the eternal radiance of Sanatan culture.
'Deepotsav-2025' is a celebration of faith, devotion, and determination. 2,128 Vedacharyas, Archakas, and Sadhaks performed the Aarti of Mother Saryu together, creating a unique record of religion and culture. This spectacle, realized through the collective efforts of revered saints, religious leaders, and countless devotees of Lord Rama, illuminated the soul of India.
On the evening of Ayodhya Deepotsav 2025, a new world record was set by lighting millions of diyas (earthen lamps) on the banks of the Saryu River and at Ram's Paidi. Over 2.6 million diyas were lit across the 56 ghats of the Saryu River. The event also included a Ramlila performance, cultural programs, a spectacular laser show, and a drone show. Keeping the environment in mind, fireworks made using green technology were also displayed. This year, a grand Aarti was also held on the banks of the Saryu River, with over 21,000 people participating collectively, setting a new Guinness World Record.
Highlights of Ayodhya Deepotsav 2025:
The ninth Deepotsav, held on October 19, 2025, set a world record of 2.617 million diyas (earthen lamps), a record recorded in the Guinness Book of World Records. The Deepotsav also included cultural programs, laser shows, green fireworks, and a drone display themed to the Ramayana. 2,128 priests performed a Maha Aarti simultaneously on the banks of the Saryu River, setting another world record. A helicopter, resembling a Pushpak Viman, symbolically depicted the arrival of Ram, Lakshman, and Sita.
A "Ek Diya Ram Ke Naam" campaign was launched.
Under this campaign, people from around the world participated in the event by
lighting diyas virtually. This grand celebration of Ayodhya Deepotsav annually
showcases the spiritual and cultural heritage of Ramnagari and attracts
devotees from across the country and abroad.
While a specific budget for the Ayodhya Deepotsav 2025 has not yet been announced, expenses have increased in recent years. In 2019, the Yogi government spent ₹1.33 crore for 5.51 lakh diyas. Last year, in 2024, the university deployed extensive resources and volunteers for a grand event with over 28 lakh diyas, but detailed expenditure figures are not available.
Under the guidance of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the
administration and social organizations contributed extensively to the event. Chief
Minister Yogi Adityanath's address to the people after the Ayodhya Deepotsav was
seen as both religious and political.
Attacking the opposition, Yogi said that the same Ayodhya where the Congress governments had made a despicable attempt to deny the existence of Lord Shri Ram and the Samajwadi Party had left Ram devotees bleeding, today the same Ayodhya in its new and grand form is attracting the country and the world towards itself.
