A heartbreaking news has come from Banda district of Uttar Pradesh. After an argument with her husband, a woman tied her three children with a sheet and jumped into the canal. All four died by drowning. There was an argument with the husband over opposing his drinking. Currently, the police have taken the husband into custody and started an investigation.

Akhilesh's wife Reena (30), a resident of Risaura village in the Kotwali area of Banda district, jumped into the Banda Branch Ken Canal about a kilometer away from home with her three children Himanshu (9), Anshi (5) and Prince (3).

When the seven people pulled out the mother and her three children from the water at a distance of about 50 meters from the incident spot in the canal, the scene that was to be seen was spine-chilling. The people of Risaura village will hardly ever forget this scene.

Some people said, “A family was destroyed on Rakshabandhan. This moment can never be forgotten. Now this tragic incident will be remembered on every Rakshabandhan. The woman's husband Akhilesh is in a distraught state.”

People are saying that Akhilesh, who was living with his children and wife till Friday night, has now become alone forever. Even when asked, no words came out of his mouth. Only tears kept flowing from his eyes.

People came to know that a crowd of villagers had gathered on the banks of the canal in Risora village since six in the morning. Some people felt that it was possible that the incident might not have happened. The woman might not have jumped into the canal with her children. She might have gone somewhere else. But who could have averted the unfortunate incident!

Even after the rescue operation began, the police personnel, divers and villagers present on the spot were guessing that everyone was safe. But there was also doubt due to the woman's belongings being found on the canal track. When the divers took out the bodies of all four at around one in the afternoon, people's hopes were shattered. 

Now there was nothing left to think about. Everyone's eyes were filled with tears. People's hearts trembled after seeing the dead bodies tied in the red bed sheets and their plight. The villagers kept looking sometimes at the dead bodies and sometimes at the people of the village.

After a liquor party with his friends in Naraini of Banda on Friday night, a young man returned home drunk and had an argument with his wife. When the wife scolded the husband citing Rakshabandhan, the matter worsened. Hurt by the attitude of the husband, wife Reena did not go to her parents' house at night along with her three children Himanshu, Anshi and Prince, but jumped into the nearby Ken canal and ended her life.
